Accent

An accent on a note or a whole chord means that it is played louder and more emphasized than the other notes or chords. It is essential for an authentic expression that there is a difference between the different beats of a bar. The personal touch in the piano playing appears just by our individual interpretation of the the strength and timing of the different beats of a given pattern. Here is an example of a pattern in which there is a difference between accents of the various beats.
