Singing Intro
In older entertainment music and in musicals, there were often a shorter or longer narrative rubato-like intro in the song. We can see such intros in songs such as 'Over the Rainbow' and 'My Funny Valentine'. These intros are often of a different character than the actual song and serves therefore not to emphasize the mood of the song, but it has a functions more of a contrast to the song and creates an expectation that something completely different (and better?) awaits us in a moment. The contrasting mood in these intros are probably one reason why many of them are rarely heard anymore. Who remembers the intros of the above 2 songs?
In 'This Little Light Of Mine' there is an intro with singing. Starting up after the intro there is a fourth fill in the bass.
