Endings

Hereby follows a number of suggestions for ways to end a song. Endings do have a crucial role since it is the way we leave a given song. This is the last sound an audience hears and therefore it has a special significance. In the end, you can lose everything on the floor, which you have attempted to build up during the song. The very best musical intentions are quickly forgotten for the audience, if the ending fails or it is not in consistent with the rest of the song. Endings can be designed for longer or shorter duration. A longer ending is often called coda (IT: tail). Someone also uses the word "Outro", as a term for a special ending.
